General Register Office Index

Registered births, marriages and deaths can, of course, be searched with ease at FreeBMD. However, for ease, I have collected the Vanstone entries here - so far, up to 1850. The marriage index includes names of possible spouses (thanks to Carol). Where the spouse is known for certain, he/she is recorded in bold type.

The records are derived from the INDEX to the registers, and provide only names and registration districts. They do not provide the full details of parents, ages, addresses, witnesses etc that the full certificates provide, but these can be ordered on-line for £7. The entries give the details needed for ordering: name, year, quarter, district, volume and page.
